Birthday Fortune

I was at Anthropologie doing last minute shopping for my twin sister’s birthday when I came across the ”Fortune-Telling Birthday Book” by Arliene B Clark.

So, of course I had to stop and read what our birthday fortune was:

And while, like normal, the fortune/horoscope for a Virgo birthday was a bit boring…it totally compliments and supports my entrepreneurial aspirations! So thank you Chronicle Books for all your faith and support, it is very much appreciated – ha!

But on a serious note, I am very proud of myself for where I am after 31 years but I am very excited to see what I accomplish in my 32nd year.

I think it’s going to be BIG!

I’m All a-Twitter!

Two BIG back-to-back announcements…can you believe it?

Well believe it, because I am FINALLY on Twitter!

I had resisted for many years but over the weekend I finally signed up!

And I’ve only tweeted once each day since, which means I’m not fully obsessed...yet. But I’m definitely over my hesitance about twitter-land and I think it’ll be a great place to fully display my wit and charm – ha!

I would love if we could follow each other so please look me up and shoot me your handle (is that what it’s called or did I just embarrass myself?) so I can follow you too!

I promise not to post (too many) annoying and insignificant tweets…so how about it??

A Logo is Born!

Today is truly momentous because I am finally ready to reveal the official logo for Live Love Life Now™!

And I am especially proud of the fact that it was designed a 100% by me! After years of struggling on and off to design a logo, I had started to doubt if my graphic design skills were up to the challenge.

But when this design came into my head I knew instantly that it was it! And then when I saw it on the computer (thanks to Miguel’s mad Illustrator skills) I was even more ecstatic!
I think it’s perfect because it’s clean, modern, emphatic and the exclamation point will allow me to play around with different ‘pop’ colors…especially my favorite electric blue!

What do you think??!

You’re Welcome Mario

So my third “first” of the year happened while playing Super Mario Bros. for Wii.

Yes, I love to play video games and Super Mario Bros. happens to be my favorite. Others must be in agreement too because Nintendo has continued to release different versions of it for each of their game systems since the 80’s.

And while I have played every version ever released, there is one thing that I’ve never managed to do…and that is win!

Until now!

Yes, after over 20 years of playing Super Mario Bros., I have finally beat the game!!

My heart was racing and my hands were shaking on that last run-through the final level, but I managed to stay thisfar away from Giant Bowser and make it to the princess in the nick of time!

I was so shocked when it was all over that it took me a second to realize what had happened, but once I did I leapt from the couch in order to capture the historic moment with my camera phone!

Victory, Victory!

The happy couple!

Piece O’ Cake

My internal (formerly dormant) designer has been awoken and I think I could easily become addicted to this.

Turns out I didn’t need as much technical assistance as I thought to get the new header in place. All I really needed was to know somebody was there to help me in case I caused irreparable damage to my blog.

But I needn’t have been so concerned because I had the new header up in no time and was soon on to altering the background image, fonts and colors.

Now I’m thinking of playing with the gadgets feature next and was curious which ones are your favorites to use?

But that’s for another day because for now I think I’m going to call it a night. I’m ecstatic with my progress and deserve a break…with popcorn.

But before I sign off, how about a walk down memory lane?

Mission Accomplished!

My weekend was a perfect balance of work and play.

I know it’s surprising, but that’s what happens when I put my TO DO list on blast. It sort of sits in the back of my mind and gives me the mother of all guilt trips.

So, even though it was absolutely perfect weather to go tubing, I made myself stay indoors and catch up on my work instead.

Then, after getting inspired by some of the BYW posts, I took to the streets with my cameras to work on an idea I had for my blog re-design.

It didn’t quite solidify till Sunday afternoon, but when it did I was super psyched at how it came out! And in an ironic twist, I ended up using the pictures taken with my iPhone instead of SLR. I won’t bore you with my plug for the iPhone 4, but it takes incredible pictures and you should go get one now!

After playing for a bit in Photoshop, I think I’m getting close to the final design and I’m excited to show it off! I just hope everybody likes it as much as I do.

So now’s the part where I fess up and admit that I didn’t accomplish everything on my TO DO list. I never got around to signing up for an Etsy store account and deep down I know that procrastination is trying to take hold to keep me from the next ‘big’ step. And it appears to be working, which is really annoying.

You’d think I’d just suck it up and do it right after I post this, but I’m feeling a bit tired so I think I’m going to turn the computer off instead and leave it for another day.

Sigggh, I seriously have some issues!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today I turn 31 years old.

I am officially a year older…and hopefully a year wiser.

I have accomplished a lot over these past twelve months and am excited to see what this next year brings. My wish list includes a successful launch to my business, financial freedom and more time with family and friends.

While I will always have a wish list and a set of goals for the upcoming year, I do recognize that I live a very blessed life.

I am blessed to share my birthday with my twin sister (who also happens to be my best friend), my amazing and supportive boyfriend (who manages to put up with the crazy year after year) and my mother (who is cool enough to coordinate a jet ski outing for our birthday).

I am blessed to have a wonderful father (who continues to encourage and motivate me everyday), a good job (with a boss who got everybody together to sing me happy birthday and eat ice cream), two awesome and crazy cats (who I adore on an obsessive level) and incredible friends (who don’t think they are too cool for game night).

I am a lucky, lucky girl and I am thankful everyday for all the love and support in my life. Everything I do and accomplish from here on out is in honor of those who are there for me in support always. Without them, I would be nothing.

I Need A Vacation From My Vacation

The past five days in Vegas were awesome…and exhausting!

They also were productive and educational, which I think makes a pretty well rounded vacation.

My most notable accomplishments? See below:

1. I finalized and emailed my response.

2. I gave one of my products to my dad, which led to a lot of encouraging feedback and an invaluable discussion.

3. I learned how to play craps…which I subsequently became addicted to.

4. I won $142 playing slots!

5. I told my brothers about my business idea and received a lot of support and encouragement, which felt awesome!

On a Mission

Another grueling and long day at the office left me with a burning desire to get my company going…and profitable enough to call it quits on the 9-5.

It also left me with a pounding headache and a need for a quick power nap.

Now that naptime is over, I'm ready to accomplish something positive before I head to bed and start the grind all over again.

Sleep Sweet

The email is done and I can now retreat to my bed with the satisfaction that I accomplished the goal I set for myself today.

I think I shall sleep like a baby tonight.

I Wake Early for Good Causes

Over twenty-five years ago, Nancy Brinker watched her sister Susan G. Komen struggle to beat cancer. As Susan neared the end of her fight, Nancy “promised her sister she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.”i That promise has evolved into a $1.5 billion source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the global fight against breast cancer.

Yesterday, I joined 40,000 people downtown to take part in the 21st annual Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure®. It was the fourth year that I have walked for the cure and again I was touched to see the survivors walking in their bright pink t-shirts and the young and old walking in celebration or memory of their family and friends who had fought the fight.

I count myself blessed that I don’t have anyone to walk in memory of, but I am still impacted nonetheless. Seeing tens of thousands of people come together to support one cause is an amazing sight, especially when you consider that it was the culmination of one woman’s promise.

Which made me think. I am also one woman and I have already made a promise to myself…to better my own life and the lives of others through awareness and philanthropy.

I wonder what I can accomplish in twenty-five years?

Off to a Gold Medal Start!

I know the end of a race determines who receives the gold medal, but for me the beginning is always the hardest. Once I get the ball rolling, my excitement and motivation start to snowball and I pick up speed.

But procrastination is all about putting off the beginning, so I always feel a small victory at the start of a project because it means I’ve gotten over the biggest obstacle…myself.

So as I mentioned over the weekend, I finally started my first project and tonight I finished it! By doing a little bit each day, I was able to accomplish something I’d had on my list for months.

I know it’s kind of hard to believe – I’m actually a little surprised myself – but sit tight because the proof is forthcoming!
