Quote of the Day

“A good friend is a connection to life – a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.” - Lois Wyse

Within the last two weeks, I have been blessed to spend time with my closest friends from high school and college – which, of course, makes me nostalgic for the days when we saw each other everyday and were intimately involved in one another’s lives.

Nowadays it’s harder to maintain that daily connection and I often wish that I stayed in better touch. But the true test of friendship is being able to pick up where you left off (even after weeks, months or years) and I am fortunate to have a handful of such friends in my life.

Nevertheless, I still have that dream that someday we'll all live in the same city and can hang out with each other as often as we please...and enjoy one another’s snow ramps.

Big Apple 2011

The first vacation of the year is here and I’m so excited! Today, I will be riding the rails with my sister and boyfriend from DC to New York City to spend a long weekend with two of our best friends from high school (including one of your favorite bloggers) and their husbands.

This is the first time we’ve done a trip like this and I’m wondering why it took us so long to plan one?! Even if we spend all of our time sitting in the hotel room just hanging out, I will be happy. Locale makes no difference when you’re hanging out with fun and lovely people!

Here’s some of what I’m looking forward to this weekend:

• The train ride (seriously, is there a comfier mode of transportation?)
• NY pizza
• A million and one photo (and video) ops
• Shopping for Kidrobots (seriously, I may have a problem)
• Three days off from work!
• Hanging out with my awesome and silly family and friends!!

Pumpkin Picking in 80 Degrees

Friends

Pumpkins

And a bulldog puppy named Watson

That about sums up my Saturday - a great afternoon in the country!

Oh and it was over 80 degrees in the sun. It felt a little strange to be sweating while picking out pumpkins but I wasn’t complaining. It was simply nice to be outdoors and taking advantage of a beautiful ‘fall’ day.

I hope your weekend was just as lovely!

Friend-ly Motivation

I’ve been blessed with amazing friends, but there’s a part of me that’s been holding back from telling them about Live Love Life Now™.

But this week, I felt ready to confide in one of my childhood friends. After I sent the email, I started to worry about what she’d think of all my rambling thoughts. Would she get it? Would she like it? Would she think I was crazy?

Her response?

“I LOVE IT! I think you have a real eye and I like the vibe and message you’re going for…I have no doubt that you can do it.”

With a big smile on my face, I wondered what I’d been scared of all along? The support and encouragement felt amazing and was just what I needed. My confidence started to grow and I felt less scared about sharing my ideas with others.

The Moral? Don’t be afraid to share your dreams with your family and close friends. Their encouragement and support will be all the extra fuel you’ll need to keep going.
